The Dell Rapids Quarrier boys hosted the Flandreau Fliers in a Region 3A matchup on Tuesday, February 3rd. The Fliers held off a second-half run by the Quarriers and earned a 62-54 win.
Both teams got off to a fast start, and the Fliers built a six-point lead, 23-17, by the end of the first quarter. They were able to push that lead to 27-18 with 5:35 to play in the second quarter. The Fliers kept that advantage and went into halftime leading 34-26.
The Quarriers put together a strong third quarter and cut into the lead by five points to make the score 44-41 going into the fourth quarter. Dell Rapids scored the first two points of the fourth quarter making the score 44-43. Unfortunately for the Quarriers, that was as close as they would get. Flandreau was able to pull away for the 62-54 win.
Dell Rapids shot 41% (24-58) from the field overall, 18% (3-17) on three-point attempts, and 3-8 from the free-throw line. Flandreau finished the game shooting 46% (25-54) overall, 33% (6-18) on three-point shots, and 50% (6-12) free-throw line.
Camden Jones had 14 points, five rebounds, and two steals. Lincoln Anderson ended with 10 points, five rebounds, and two steals. Karson Paye had nine points, five rebounds, and three assists. Jace Brende had eight points. Jackson Peppel added seven points and five rebounds. Carson Maeschen had six points.
