The Dell Rapids Quarrier girls had their final regular season game of the year on Friday, February 14th. The Dakota Valley Panthers held off the Quarriers for a 64-56 win.
After Dell Rapids held a 13-12 lead, the Panthers finished the quarter on a 6-0 run for an 18-13 lead. Dell Rapids cut the lead to two points twice in the second quarter, but Dakota Valley led 28-24 at halftime. The Panthers started the third quarter on a 10-2 run for a 38-26 lead. The Quarriers battled back and cut the lead to 44-36 by the end of the third quarter. Dakota Valley started the fourth quarter on a 7-0 run to extend their lead to 51-36. Dell Rapids cut the lead down to 53-47 with 3:15 to play. The Quarriers unfortunately could not get any closer than six points the rest of the game.
Dell Rapids shot 37% (22-59) overall, 43% (6-14) on three-point shots, and 55% (6-11) from the free-throw line. Dakota Valley finished the game shooting 36% (24-66) overall, 19% (3-16) on three-point attempts, and 87% (13-15) from the free-throw line.
Elly Olson finished with 19 points and three rebounds. Jersi Schultz added 15 points, six rebounds, and three blocked shots. Clara Justice had eight points and four rebounds. Taylor Schmidt ended with seven points, three rebounds, and four assists. Elin Schoenhard had four points and nine rebounds. Rorie Thoreson had three points and five assists.
