The Dell Rapids Quarrier girls earned a Region 3A tournament win at home over the Garretson Blue Dragons on Tuesday, February 25th. The Quarriers built a double-digit lead in the first half on their way to a 59-28 victory.
Dell Rapids had a 14-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Quarriers then outscored Garretson 17-7 for a 31-16 halftime lead. They kept rolling in the second half. A big third quarter put Dell Rapids in front 48-22 going into the fourth quarter.
The Quarriers shot 41.5% (22-53) from the field, 23.5% (4-17) on three-point shots, and 78.6% (11-14) from the free-throw line. The Blue Dragons finished the game shooting 20% (6-30) overall, just 1-11 on three-point attempts, and 71.4% (15-21) from the free-throw line.
Elly Olson finished with 16 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Jersi Schultz also had 16 points with five rebounds and three steals. Josie Price had eight points and three rebounds. Elin Schoenhard ended with five points, five rebounds, and three assists.
