A five-run second inning by Volga was enough to help them to a 7-3 win over Dell Rapids 16U on Friday, June 14th.
After a scoreless first inning, Jack Paterson put Dell Rapids on the board with an RBI groundout in the top of the second. Volga responded with five runs in the bottom of the inning for a 5-1 lead. Kenny Swanson scored on a wild pitch, and Jackson Peppel had an RBI single in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 5-3. Volga again responded with two runs to push the lead back to four runs, 7-3.
Peppel finished with two hits and an RBI. Carson Maeschen and Swanson each had a double. Paterson added an RBI. Connor Hanson pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed seven runs, five earned, on nine hits and three walks with five strikeouts. Gage Bunkers pitched 1/3 of an inning.
