Dell Rapids Baseball Wins Two More, Remains Unbeaten

The Dell Rapids high school baseball team remained unbeaten against South Dakota Class B teams after two more wins at Rickeman Field on Wednesday, May 8th.  The two wins came against Garretson and Sioux Falls Christian.

Dell Rapids 13, Garretson 1

A 10-run third inning propelled Dell Rapids to the 13-1 win over Garretson in five innings.  After a scoreless first inning, Dell Rapids scored three times in the bottom of the second.  Garretson cut the lead to 3-1 after scoring a run in the top of the third.  Dell Rapids would then have their 10-run inning in the bottom of the inning to get the win.

Cole Ruesink had three hits, including a double and triple, and four RBIs.  Tad Tjaden had two singles and two RBIs.  Talan Millage added a double and two RBIs.  Jack Henry had a single and two RBIs.  Treyse Eastman finished with a double and an RBI.  Sutton Williams and Mason Stubbe both had a double.  Drake Eastman had an RBI.  Konrad Richeal pitched five innings and allowed an earned run on three hits and a walk with eight strikeouts.

Dell Rapids 14, Sioux Falls Christian 4

Dell Rapids scored five straight runs in the first two innings and cruised to a 14-4 victory over Sioux Falls Christian.  They got a run in the bottom of the first and then four more in the bottom of the second for a 5-0 lead.  Sioux Falls Christian scored one run in the top of the third, but Dell Rapids put the game away with a six-run bottom of the third for an 11-1 run.  Sioux Falls Christian got another run in the top of the fourth, and again Dell Rapids answered, this time with three more runs.

Dell Rapids took advantage of nine walks and five Sioux Falls Christian errors with some timely hitting.  Henry had three hits, including a double and triple, and four RBIs.  T. Eastman had a single and three RBIs.  Stubbe added a single and two RBIs.  D. Eastman and Millage both had an RBI.  Tjaden pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed four runs, two earned, on five hits and three walks with six strikeouts.  D. Eastman pitched the final 2/3 of an inning.
