After having to move from Rickeman Field to Volunteer Field due to field conditions, Dell Rapids won both games of a double-header over Groton on Monday, April 8th.
Dell Rapids 5, Groton 4
In the first game of the double-header, Dell Rapids was able to get a walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh. Groton scored one run in the top of the first. Jack Henry had an RBI ground out in the bottom of the inning for a 1-1 score. Sutton Williams put Dell Rapids in front after an RBI sacrifice bunt in the second inning. Groton tied the game, 2-2, in the top of the third. Cole Ruesink had an RBI single, and Henry followed with an RBI triple putting Dell Rapids back in the lead 4-2 after three innings of play.
The score remained 4-2 until the top of the sixth. With two outs in the inning, Groton got back-to-back RBI singles to tie the game. With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Dell Rapids was able to get back-to-back walks. Henry drove home the winning run with an RBI single.
Henry had two hits, one a triple, and three RBIs. Ruesink had a single and an RBI. Williams also had an RBI. Mason Stubbe had two hits, one a triple. Treyse Eastman also had a triple. Carson Maeschen ended with a double. Drake Eastman and Tad Tjaden each had a single. Lincoln Fersdahl pitched 5 1/3 innings allowing four runs, two earned, on two hits and two walks with six strikeouts. Konrad Richeal pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed just two hits.
Dell Rapids 10, Groton 0
The second game went much easier for Dell Rapids. Quinn Carr pitched a four-inning no-hitter as Dell Rapids scored in every inning. Carr finished with four walks and nine strikeouts. Dell Rapids scored two runs in the first, three in the second, four in the third inning, and one more in the bottom of the fourth.
D. Eastman had three hits and two RBIs. Henry also had three more hits and an RBI. Stubbe added two doubles and an RBI. Ruesink had a single and two RBIs. Talan Millage had a single and an RBI. Williams added a triple.
