The Dell Rapids High School baseball team made a trip to Oklahoma for a few exhibition games Thursday, March 21st through Saturday, March 23rd. They played three games while on the trip and finished with a 1-2 record.
Dell Rapids 20, Comanche OK 1
The offense started the trip on fire scoring five runs in the top of the first inning to set the tone in their win over Comanche. Comanche got one run back in the bottom of the first, but Dell Rapids added 10 more runs in the top of the second for a 15-1 lead. They would get a run in the fourth and four more in the fifth.
Jack Henry had five hits, one a double, and three RBIs. Cole Ruesink finished with three hits, including a double, and four RBIs. Drake Eastman had two hits and three RBIs. Treyse Eastman also had two hits, one a double, and an RBI. Carson Maeschen also had a double and an RBI. Mason Stubbe had a hit and an RBI, and Quinn Carr also had a hit. Lincoln Fersdahl had two RBIs. Tad Tjaden, Sutton Williams, and Talan Millage all had one RBI each.
D. Eastman pitched one inning and allowed an unearned run with two strikeouts. Konrad Richeal pitched an inning giving up one hit and two walks while striking out three. Millage pitched three innings and allowed two hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
Marlow OK 11, Dell Rapids 3
Marlow broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the second winning with a grand slam home run followed by a solo home run for a 5-0 lead. They added another run in the bottom of the third for a 6-0 advantage. Dell Rapids scored one run in the fourth inning, but Marlow also scored a run for a 7-1 score. Marlow added to the lead with a run in the bottom of the fifth. Dell Rapids scored two times in the top of the sixth, while Marlow added three runs.
D. Eastman had a hit and all three RBIs. Henry and Stubbe each had a hit in the game. Tjaden pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed six runs, one earned, on three hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Carr pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed five earned runs on six hits and four walks with three strikeouts. Richeal also allowed a hit.
Bishop McGuinness 4, Dell Rapids 0
Bishop McGuinness scored two runs in the bottom of the first and two more in the bottom of the second for the only four runs of the game. They had just two hits total, while Dell Rapids had four hits.
Ruesink had a double. Henry, D. Eastman, and Fersdahl all had one single each. Henry pitched one inning and allowed two earned runs on a hit and four walks with one strikeout. D. Eastman threw three innings and allowed two earned runs on a hit and five walks with four strikeouts. Fersdahl pitched two innings walking one batter and striking out one.
