Late Second Quarter Run Key to Region 3A Win for Quarrier Boys

A run late in the second quarter helped the Dell Rapids Quarriers to a 65-45 win over the Tri-Valley Mustangs in the opening round of the Region 3A Tournament at home on Tuesday, February 27th.

Dell Rapids led by just two points at the end of the first quarter, 17-15.  Tri-Valley was within three points, 26-23, with 3:00 left to play in the second quarter.  The Quarriers closed out the first half on a 10-0 run for a 36-23 halftime lead.  That run proved to be the biggest difference in the game.  Dell Rapids only outscored Tri-Valley by two points in the third quarter for a 53-38 lead going into the fourth quarter.

The Quarriers finished the game shooting 45% (24-53) overall, 38% (8-21) on three-point shots, and 53% (9-17) from the free-throw line.  Tri-Valley shot 37% (18-49) from the field overall, 25% (3-12) from three-point area, and 6-8 from the free-throw line.

Four players finished in double figures on the night.  Drake Eastman had 19 points and two assists.  Jack Henry finished with 14 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Treyse Eastman had 12 points, two assists, and two steals.  Cole Ruesink added 10 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, and three steals.  Rhett Kloth had six points and eight rebounds.  Lincoln Fersdahl ended with three points, four rebounds, and five assists.
