Quarrier Girls Fall to Tri-Valley on Senior Night

The Dell Rapids Quarrier girls hosted the Tri-Valley Mustangs on Thursday, February 1st for their final regular season home game of the season.  Tri-Valley pulled away late in the third quarter to get a 48-33 victory.

The Mustangs did built a double-digit lead in the first quarter.  They led 19-9 going into the second quarter.  Dell Rapids, however, outscored Tri-Valley 8-2 in the third quarter to cut the lead to 21-17 going into halftime.  The Quarriers were within five points, 24-19, with 4:08 to play in the third quarter.  Tri-Valley then finished the quarter on a 15-5 run to lead 39-24 going into the fourth quarter.

Dell Rapids finished the game shooting 34% (12-35) overall, 19% (3-16) on three-point shots, and 6-10 from the fre-throw line.  The Mustangs shot 33% (18-55) from the field overall, 32% (6-19) from three-point area, and 46% (6-13) from the free-throw line.

Jersi Schultz finished the game with 10 points, eight rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Elly Olson had nine points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  Clara Justice added five points and seven rebounds.  Rorie Thoreson also had five points.  Mya De Stigter ended with three points, five rebounds, and two assists.

This year’s seniors are Reagan VanZee and Shelby Welbig.
