The Dell Rapids Quarrier girls hosted a tough Vermillion Tanager team on Thursday, January 25th. The Tanagers defeated the Quarriers 44-12.
Mya De Stigter gave the Quarriers an early 3-0 lead in the opening minute of the game. Vermillion, however, would hold the Quarriers to only one more point in the quarter and led 17-4 going into the second quarter. The Tanagers extended their lead to 26-10 by halftime. Vermillion would outscore Dell Rapids 18-2 in the second half.
Dell Rapids shot 11% (4-36) from the field overall, 17% (3-18) on three-point attempts, and 1-4 from the free-throw line. Vermillion finished the game shooting 35% (19-55) overall, 14% (2-14) on three-point attempts, and 36% (4-11) from the free-throw line.
De Stigter finished with nine points. Rorie Thoreson had two points, two rebounds, two steals, three assists, and three blocked shots. Jersi Shultz had one point and five rebounds. Clara Justice aded eight rebounds. Elly Olson and Josie Price both had four rebounds each.
