The Dell Rapids Quarrier girls basketball team traveled to Hartford to take on the West Central Trojans on Tuesday, January 16th. West Central used a big third quarter for a 64-51 win.
After the Quarriers had a 10-9 lead in the first quarter, the Trojans went on an 8-3 run to finish the quarter with a 17-13 lead. West Central extended the lead to 34-24 by halftime. The big difference in the game came in the third quarter. The Trojans outscored Dell Rapids 22-12 in the quarter for a 56-36 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Dell Rapids shot 40% (19-48) overall in the game, 39% (7-18) on three-point attempts, and 55% (6-11) from the free-throw line. West Central sho 37% (23-62) overall in the game, 37% (7-19) from three-point area, an 75% (12-16) from the free-throw line. The Trojan defense forced 28 turnovers and scored 24 points off those turnovers.
Elly Olson had 19 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Jersi Schultz added 13 points and 11 rebounds. Rorie Thoreson finished with eight points, four rebounds, and three assists. Mya DeStigter ahd five points and four rebounds.
