The Dell Rapids Quarriers hosted the Sioux Falls Christian Chargers in a Dak-12 and Region 3A match-up on Thursday, January 11th. The game was a make-up from Tuesday, January 9th. The Charger defense gave the Quarriers trouble all night in a 63-30 win.
Sioux Falls Christian forced 23 turnovers in the first half, 35 overall, and 23 of those came on Charger steals. Dell Rapids shot 34% (11-32) overall, 0-5 from three-point area, and 62% (8-13) from the free-throw line. Sioux Falls Christian shot 37% (22-60) from the field overall, 35% (9-26) from three-point area, and 71% (10-14) from the free-throw line.
The Chargers built a 23-8 lead by the end of the first quarter. Dell Rapids kept pace in the second quarter, but the Quarriers trailed 37-16 at halftime. Sioux Falls Christian pulled away by outscoring Dell Rapids 26-10 in the second half.
Clara Justice had 10 points and four rebounds. Elly Olson finished with seven points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Rorie Thoreson had six points, four rebounds, and two steals. Taylor Schmidt had four points. Shelby Welbig ended with two points and three rebounds. Jersi Schultz had one point and nine rebounds.
