The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team played their final regular season match on Tuesday, October 24th. Dell Rapids hosted the Beresford Watchdogs, celebrating senior night, and won in straight sets by scores of 25-17, 25-7, and 25-12. The lone senior, Kylee Fiddelke, was honored prior to the match.
The first set started with a 3-3 tie. Dell Rapids took an 8-5 lead and extended that lead to 17-13. Beresford pulled within a point, 17-16, but the Quarriers finished the set on an 8-0 run for a 25-17 win.
The Quarriers used that momentum the entire second set. They were leading 5-2 before going on a 12-0 run for a 17-2 lead. The lead extended to 21-3 before a 25-7 final score. The Watchdogs shook off that second set and stormed out to a 6-0 lead to start the third set. Bereford led 7-1 before Dell Rapids went on an 8-2 run tie tie the score 9-9. The Quarriers scored the next three points to go ahead 12-9. After the Watchdogs got the next point to make the score 12-10, Dell Rapids went on a 7-0 run for a 19-10 lead and went on to win 25-12.
Sophie Randall had 20 set assists, five kills, four digs, two ace serves, and two blocks. Lauryn Kloth added 10 kills, five ace serves, and two blocks. Madelynn Henry had eight kills, eight digs, and three ace serves. Fiddelke finsihed with four kills, four ace serves, and three digs. Elin Schoenhard had six kills. Alaina Wolff had seven digs, and Karlie Ingalls finished with five digs.
Dell Rapids will be the #2 seed in the Region 3A tournament and will play McCook Central/Montrose in the opening round on Tuesday, October 31st.
