Dell Rapids Volleyball Stays Perfect

The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team remained perfect on the season after a straight set win over the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies on Tuesday, August 29th.  The Quarriers won by scores of 25-20, 25-21, and 25-11.  Dell Rapids has yet to lose a set early in the 2023 season.

The Huskies scored the first three points of the match, but Dell Rapids responded with five straight for a 5-3 lead.  The Quarriers extended their lead to 13-8, but Elk Point-Jefferson tied the set 13-13.  The Huskies took a 16-15 lead a few points later, but Dell Rapids responded with an 8-1 run for a 23-17 lead.  They led 24-18 before taking the set 25-20.

Dell Rapids started the second set with a 5-2 advantage.  The Huskies tied the score 9-9, and the two teams went back and forth remaining tied 13-13, 15-15, and 18-18.  Elk Point-Jefferson took the lead 19-18, but Dell Rapids took the lead 21-20 and then finished the set on a 4-1 run for a 25-21 win.

The Quarriers carried the momentum into the third set.  Dell Rapids started on a 10-2 run.  The Huskies made a run to pull within six, 14-8, but Dell Rapids cruised from there outscoring the Huskies 11-3 the rest of the match.

Sophie Randall finished with 29 set assists, seven digs, four ace serves, two blocks, and two kills.  Madelynn Henry had 16 kills and four digs.  Lauryn Kloth added 10 kills and an ace.  Clara Justice finished with four kills.  Kylee Fiddelke had three kills, three ace serves, and seven digs.  Alaina Wolff finished with four digs and an ace.
