The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team won their third straight match to start the season on Monday, August 28th. Dell Rapids traveled to Baltic and defeated the Bulldogs in straight sets by scores of 28-26, 25-21, and 25-10.
The Quarriers opened the match with an early 6-1 run. They were able to maintain about a four to five point lead until they extended it to 14-7. The lead was still seven points, 17-10, before Baltic made a run. They cut the lead to 21-17 and then eventually tied the score 21-21. Dell Rapids scored the next two points to lead 23-21. They were at set point, 24-21, but the Bulldogs rallied to tie the set 24-24. Baltic took their first lead of the set at 25-24, butDell Rapids scored the next two points for a 26-25 lead. After a 26-26 tie, Dell Rapids got the win 28-26.
Baltic started the second set with a 4-2 run. The set was tied 5-5 and again 7-7. Dell Rapids then went on an 8-0 run for a 15-7 lead. The Quarriers led 17-9, and once again, Baltic made a run. The Bulldogs chipped away at the lead to pull within a point, 20-19. Dell Rapids would end the set on a 5-2 run to go ahead 2-0. The third set was much easier for Dell Rapids. After starting with a 6-3 lead, they went on a 10-3 run to extend the lead 16-6 before winning 25-10.
Madelynn Henry had 17 kills, 18 digs, and two ace serves. Elin Schoenhard had six kills and two ace serves. Lauryn Kloth also had six kills with two assisted blocks. Clara Justice finished with six kills. Sophi Randall had 36 set assists, four ace serves, and 2.5 blocks. Alaina Wolff added 13 digs.
