The undefeated season continued for Dell Rapids 16U after a 10-5 win over Flandreau in the second game of regions on Wednesday, July 26th. Since this was the second win for Dell Rapids over Flandreau in their best of three series, Dell Rapids moves on to the state tournament.
Dell Rapids scored early and often to set the tone in the game. They scored one run in the first, one in the second, one in the third, and four in the fourth to build a 7-0 lead. Flandreau got one run in the bottom of the fourth. Dell Rapids added another two runs in the top of the fifth, while Flandreau scored one time. The score was 9-2 going into the seventh inning. Dell Rapids got one in the top of the inning, and Flandreau scored three times.
Tad Tjaden had four singles and three RBIs in the game. Cole Ruesink had two doubles and an RBI. Talan Millage finished with a hit and three RBIs. Will Zwach had a hit and an RBI. Lincoln Fersdahl, Quinn Carr, and Logan Donovan all had one hit each. Fersdahl pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed two earned runs on eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Millage pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed three earned runs on two hits and two walks with one strikeout.
The 2023 South Dakota VFW 16U State A Tournament will be held in Beresford August 4th through August 6th.
