Dell Rapids Will Finish Season in 3rd/4th Place Game

The Dell Rapids Quarrier softball team will finish their 2023 season playing for third place.  Dell Rapids fell to Tea Area 22-9 in the semifinals in Aberdeen on Friday, June 2nd.

The Titans scored four times in the top of the first.  Dell Rapids cut the lead in half with two runs in the bottom of the first.  Tea added another run in the top of the second and two more in the top of the third for a 7-2 lead.  The Quarriers responded with three runs in the bottom of the third and trailed 7-5 after three innings of play.

Kylee Fiddelke had an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth.  Jaycee Tebay added a two run dingle to give Dell Rapids an 8-7 lead.  Kylie Lebahn had an RBI single, and Dell Rapids led 9-7 after the fourth inning.  Tea would score the final 15 runs of the game.  They scored six in the top of the fifth, two in the sixth, and then seven more in the top of the seventh.

Claire Wynja had three hits, one a double, and two RBIs.  Rileigh Foster also had three hits and two RBIs.  Tebay hadd two hits, one a double, and three RBIs.  Fiddelke added two hits and an RBI.  LeBahn had a single and RBI.  Makaylah O’Meara had a double, and Lexi Ingalls finished with a single.  Katie Kvigne pitched two innings and allowed seven earned runs on nine hits.  Paige Trewin pitched 4 2/3 innings allowing 15 earned runs on 17 hits and three walks with two strikeouts.  Lexi Scherff pitched 1/3 of an inning walking one batter.

The Quarriers will play Dakota Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 3rd.
