Dell Rapids Baseball Advances in State Tournament

The Dell Rapids high school club baseball team advanced to the semifinals of the South Dakota High School Baseball Association State B Tournament after a 9-1 win over Madison on Monday, May 29th at Sioux Falls Stadium.

Dell Rapids turned a 3-1 lead into a 9-1 lead with a six-run fifth inning after about a 30 minute weather delay during the game.  Treyse Eastman drove home the first two runs with a single in the bottom of the first.  Jack Henry scored on an error in the bottom of the third to make the score 3-0.

Madison cut the lead to 3-1 with a run in the top of the fourth.  Dell Rapids broke the game open with six in the bottom of the fifth.  Brayden Pankonen scored on a balk, Joe Rechtenbaugh had an RBI ground out, Dylan Mathis had an RBI single, Drake Eastman had an RBI single, and Pankonen had a two-run single to give Dell Rapids a 9-1 lead.

T. Eastman had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs.  Pankonen had a single and two RBIs.  Mathis and D. Eastman both had a hit and an RBI.  Will Jaton finished with two hits.  CJ Smith and Mason Stubbe both had one single each.  Rechtenbaugh added an RBI.  Tad Tjaden pitched a complete game allowing one unearned run on four hits and four walks with three strikeouts.

Dell Rapids will play Bon Homme/Avon in the semifinals at 2:35 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30th at Sioux Falls Stadium.
