Dell Rapids Baseball Wins Two over Sioux Falls Christian

The Dell Rapids high school club baseball team continued its winning ways with two more wins at home on Tuesday, May 16th.  Dell Rapids got two wins over Sioux Falls Christian to extend their winning streak to 14 games.

For three innings the two teams remained locked in a scoreless battle.  Treyse Eastman broke the tie with an RBI double in the bottom of the fourth giving Dell Rapids a 1-0 lead.  Sioux Falls Christian tied the game in the top of the fifth with a run and then took the lead with another run in the top of the sixth.  Dell Rapids then put together the game-winning rally in the bottom of the seventh.

T. Eastman led off the inning with a single.  CJ Smith laid down a sacrifice bunt, but reached on an error scoring Eastman and putting Smith on first.  Tad Tjaden executed a sacrifice bunt to move Smith to third base after Smith stole second earlier in the at bat.  Smith then scored the game-winning run on a passed ball.

T. Eastman had two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Cole Ruesink also had a double.  Brayden Pankonen finished with a hit.  Drake Eastman pitched four innings and allowed one earned run on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts.  Pankonen pitched three innings and allowed one earned run on three hits and a walk with five strikeouts.

Dell Rapids 10, Sioux Falls Christian 0

The offense had an easier time in the second game.  Dell Rapids scored one run in the bottom of the first.  They then had a three-run bottom of the third inning and a five-run fourth inning to go ahead 9-0.  Their final run came in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Smith had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs.  Dylan Mathis and T. Eastman both had two hits and two RBIs.  Joe Rechtenbaugh had a single and three RBIs.  Tjaden finished with a double and an RBI.  Pankonen and Lincoln Fersdahl each had a single.  Rechtenbaugh pitched six innings and only allowed two hits and one walk with 11 strikeouts.
