The Dell Rapids Quarrier (8-1) softball team 10-runned the Lennox Orioles, 11-1, at home on Thursday, May 4th.
Momentum shifted to Dell Rapids early in the game. Lennox got a runner to third base with one out in the top of the first but was unable to score. The Quarriers took advantage in the bottom of the first inning and scored four times. Claire Wynja had an RBI single, Kylee Fiddelke scored on wild pitch, Rileigh Foster had an RBI sacirice fly, and Kylie Lebahn added a solo home run for a 4-0 lead. Dell Rapids scored three times in the bottom of the second. Wynja had another RBI single, and Jaycee Tebay drove home two with a double.
Lennox got one run in the top of the third, but the hits kept coming for Dell Rapids in the bottom of the third inning. Katie Kvigne scored on an error, Fiddelke had an RBI triple, and Wynja had her third RBI single for a 10-1 lead. Katie Scherff had an RBI triple in the bottom of the fourth for the final Quarrier run.
Wynja had three singles and three RBIs. Tebay had two doubles and two RBIs. Lebahn finished with a home run and a double with an RBI. Kvigne had a triple and a single. Fiddelke and Scherff both added a triple and RBI. Lexi Ingalls and Liz Price each had a hit in the game as well. Kvigne pitched five innings and allowed one earned run on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
