The Dell Rapids Quarriers (15-5) stopped a three game losing streak and ended their 2022-2023 regular season with a win on Monday, February 20th. The Quarriers defeated the Garretson Blue Dragons 74-42.
Garretson had the quick start to open the game and led 12-8 with 2:30 to play in the first quarter. Dell Rapids regrouped at that point and quickly pulled away from the Blue Dragons. The Quarriers ended the first quarter on a 14-3 run and led 22-15 at the end of the first quarter. The offense kept rolling from there as Dell Rapids built a 45-24 halftime lead. Dell Rapids outscored Garretson 29-18 in the second half.
The Quarriers shot 53% (29-55) overall in the game, 42% (11-26) on three-point attempts, and 5-8 from the free-throw line. Garretson shot 32% (13-41) overall, 35% (6-17) from three-point area, and 63% (10-16) from the free-throw line.
Brayden Pankonen had 21 points, 19 in the first half, with four rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Camden Justice added 18 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Rhett Kloth ended with nine points, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots. Jack Henry finished with eight points, six assists, and four blocked shots. Braeden Nirva also had eight points.
