Rally Falls Short for Quarrier Girls

The Dell Rapids Quarriers (2-14) had their second half rally stopped as the Tri-Valley Mustangs hung on for a 54-44 win on Thursday, February 2nd.

The Mustangs built a 21-10 lead after the first quarter.  Dell Rapids counted with a big second quarter and cut the lead to 26-21 by halftime.  The Quarriers pulled within a point, 32-31, with 2:30 to play in the third quarter.  Tri-Valley regrouped and pushed the lead back to five points, 36-31, by the end of the third quarter.  The Mustangs then outscored Dell Rapids 18-13 in the final quarter.

Dell Rapids finished the game shooting 32% (15-47) overall, 30% (6-20) on three-point attempts, and 62% (8-13) from the free-throw line.  The Mustangs shot 35% (17-48) overall, 40% (6-15) from three-point area, and 78% (14-18) from the free-throw line.

Jenna Miller had 12 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Kerrigan Kindopp finished with eight points and two assists.  Claire Wynja had seven points, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals.  Shelby Welbig added six points, and Elly Olson had five points and five rebounds.

JV Results – Coach Huska Update

The Quarrier JV team played hard the entire game on both ends of the floor, but cold shooting and some costly turnovers resulted in a 14-33 loss to the Mustangs JV team.

Kassi Stykel had three points and two rebounds.  Mya DeStigter also had three points with three steals.  Adah Cavigielli finished with three points.  Regan VanZee and Taylor Schmidt both had two points and four rebounds each.  Peyton Hohn had a point, eight rebounds, and a blocked shot.  Keilah Kremer and Welbig both had four rebounds each.
