After having a few close games over the last few weeks, the Dell Rapids Quarriers (2-13) got over the hump and took a 55-40 win over the Baltic Bulldogs at home on Monday, January 30th.
Baltic had an early lead of 3-0 and 5-3, but Dell Rapids went on an 8-0 run for an 11-5 lead and never looked back. The Quarriers led 20-11 at the end of the first quarter and extended the lead to 28-16 at halftime. Baltic was able to cut the lead in the third quarter, but only by two points. Dell Rapids still led 42-32 heading into the fourth quarter. The Quarriers had a game-high lead of 17 points, 55-38, late in the fourth quarter.
Dell Rapids shot 40% (21-52) overall, 22% (5-23) from three-point area, and 73% (8-11) from the free-throw line. The Bulldogs shot 35% (15-43) from the field, 38% (6-16) from three-point area, and 57% (4-7) from the free-throw line. Dell Rapids was strong in the paint, getting 30 points from the late and also 12 second-chance points.
Jenna Miller had 21 points, three rebounds, two assists, and four steals. Liz Price finished with 12 points and six rebounds. Clara Justice added eight points and three rebounds. Claire Wynja ended with six points and three steals. Elly Olson had five points, three rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Kerrigan Kindopp had three points, two rebounds, and six steals.
JV Results – Coach Huska Update
The Quarrier JV team lost to the Baltic Bulldogs JV by a score of 18-30. Mya Destigter finished with six points and four rebounds. Keilah Kremer had five points and four rebounds. Peyton Hohn had two points, two rebounds, and three blocks. Shelby Welbig finished with two points and three rebounds. Reagan VanZee had two points, and Alaina Wolff ended with a point and four rebounds.
