Dell Rapids Boys Win Second Game after Three Week Break

The Dell Rapids Quarrier boys basketball team waited over three weeks to play their second game of the year and earned their second win on Saturday, December 31st.  Dell Rapids defeated the Hamlin Chargers 64-52 at the Entringer Classic.

The Quarriers were able to have a lead at each of the quarter breaks and extended their lead throughout the game.  Dell Rapids led 14-11 at the end of the first quarter and pushed it to 29-21 by halftime.  The Chargers cut the lead to 39-33 with 3:30 left in the third quarter, but Dell Rapids went on a 9-5 run to lead 48-38.  Dell Rapids then outscored Hamlin 16-14 in the final quarter.

The Quarriers shot 52% (26-50) from the field, 33% (6-18) from three-point area, and 75% (6-8) from the free-throw line.  Hamlin finished 36% (17-47) overall, 36% (9-25) from thee-point area, and 75% (9-12) from the free-throw line.  Dell Rapids held a big 33-17 rebounding advantage in the game.

Brayden Pankonen, named the game’s MVP, had 24 points, three rebounds, and three steals.  Jack Henry finished with 18 points, six rebounds, two steals, and two blocked shots.  Camden Justice added 10 points, six rebounds, and four assists.  Rhett Kloth had eight points and 13 rebounds.
