The Dell Rapids Quarrier football team improved to 5-0 with a win on homecoming against the Milbank Bulldogs on Friday, September 23rd.
Mason Stubbe started the scoring with an eight-yard run with 8:36 to go in the first quarter. About a minute and a half later, Chase Jones scored on a 42-yard run. Camden Justice made both extra points. The Quarriers led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Brayden Pankonen found the end zone on a three-yard run with 8:59 in the first half. Stubbe scored again on special teams when he returned a punt for 65 yards and a touchdown right at the end of the first half. Justice made both extra points, and Dell Rapids led 28-0 at halftime.
The defense got some points on the board for Dell Rapids in the third quarter. Aiden Geraets had a sack in the end zone for a safety to push the lead to 30-0. Pankonen scored on the very next play when he returned the kickoff 60 yards for a touchdown. Justice made the extra point to give Dell Rapids a 37-0 lead. Milbank got their touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Jack Henry was 2-5 passing for 13 yards and an interception. Cooper Frost finished 2-3 passing for 25 yards. Jones had two catches for 13 yards. Grady Lamer had a catch for 15 yards, and Jack McDougall had a catch for 10 yards. Stubbe finished with six carries for 64 yards and a rushing touchdown along with a punt return touchdown. Pankonen had eight carries for 47 yards and a touchdown along with a kickoff return for a touchdown. Jones had four carries for 47 yards and a touchdown.
Geraets had seven tackles and a sack for a safety. Treyse Eastman had four tackles. Henry finished with 3.5 tackles. Pankonen and John Mortrude both had three tackles each.
Dell Rapids will travel to Beresford on Friday, September 23rd.
