Baltic 14U Loses Lead Late to Tri-Valley Maroon 14U

The Baltic 14U baseball team held a 9-6 lead late in the game, but Tri-Valley Maroon scored four times in the bottom of the sixth for a 10-9 win on Friday, June 23rd.

Elias Oakley scored on a wild pitch in the top of the first for a 1-0 lead.  Tri-Valley took the lead with four runs in the bottom of the inning.  Cale Roach scored on a wild pitch, and Aaron Norby stole home in the top of the second inning to cut the lead to 4-3.  Baltic took the lead with three runs in the top of the third.  Brody Hansen drew a bases-loaded walk, Roach was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and Aiden Peters scored on a wild pitch for a 6-4 lead.  Tri-Valley tied the game with two more runs in the bottom of the third.

Baltic took the lead again in the top of the fourth inning.  Luke Petersen had an RBI ground out, and Ben Berg scored on a passed ball to go ahead 8-6.  They added another run in the top of the sixth.  Petersen had another RBI ground out making the score 9-6.  Tri-Valley then had their four-run sixth inning to regain the lead 10-9.  Baltic had the tying run on third base with two outs, but Tri-Valley got a ground ball out to end the game.

Petersen had a hit with two RBIs.  Berg finished with two hits, one a double.  Oakley, Peters, and Norby all had one hit each.  Hansen and Roach finished with an RBI.  Berg pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed six earned runs on six hits and three walks with four strikeouts.  Peters pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed four earned runs on five walks with one strikeout.
