The Baltic 14U baseball team split a pair of games on back-to-back nights. They traveled to Canton on Tuesday, June 30th and then traveled to Garretson on Wednesday, July 1st.
Canton 5, Baltic 4
Canto was able to hold off a seventh-inning rally by Baltic for a 5-4 win. Maddex Klein scored on an error, and Will Oakley had an RBI ground out to give Baltic an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Canton got one run back in the bottom of the inning. They would get three more runs in the bottom of the second for a 4-2 lead. Canton tacked on another run in the bottom of the fourth to extend the lead to 5-2. Baltic rallied in the top of the seventh. Laken Kortemeyer had an RBI single, and Hayden Sundermann scored on an error to cut the lead to 5-4, but a popout with runners on second and third with two outs ended the game.
Brody Hansen, Sundermann, and Ayden Oschner all had two hits each. Kortemeyer and Oakley both had a single and an RBI. Klein finished with a double. Hansen pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on two hits and five walks with three strikeouts. Klein pitched 3 2/3 innings and allowed an unearned run on a hit with three strikeouts.
Baltic 17, Garretson 1
A big first inning set the stage for Baltic in their big win in Garretson. They scored seven times in the top of the first. Garretson got a run in the bottom of the first for a 7-1 score. Baltic then had two runs in the top of the second and then six more in the third for a 15-1 lead. They would add two more runs in the top of the fifth.
Sundermann had three hits, two of them doubles, and three RBIs. Everett Bemboom finished with three hits and two RBIs. Klein and Austin Temple both had two hits and two RBIs. Odin Hanisch had two singles with an RBI. Hansen ended with two singles. Oakley and Simon Jennes each had a single and an RBI. Ryker Ahlers and Oschner both had an RBI.
Bemboom pitched two innings and allowed an unearned run on a hit and walk. Ahlers pitched three innings walking two and striking out two.
