West Central Boys Rally Falls Short in Vermillion

The West Central Trojan boys rallied in the fourth quarter, but the rally fell short as the Vermillion Trangers won 58-50 on Friday, December 30th.

Vermillion started the game on an 8-0, but only led 10-5 at the end of the first quarter.  The Tanagers nearly doubled the lead by halftime.  They led by a score of 22-13.  The lead grew to 39-26 by the end of the third quarter.  West Central put together a rally and pulled within three points, 50-47.  The Tanagers, however, finished the game on an 8-3 run for the win.

West Central shot 35% (19-54) overall, 18% (4-22) from three-point area, and 50% (8-16) from the free-throw line.  Vermillion finished the game shooting 44% (22-50) overall, 36% (4-11) on three-pointers, and 77% (10-13) from the free-throw line.

Crew Heier had 16 points and eight rebounds.  Erik Seten added nine points and six rebounds.  Dylan Stromer also had nine points along with three rebounds, three blocks, and two steals.  Carter Schmeichel added seven points, three rebounds, and two assists.  Brodie Herr had seven points, five rebounds, and three assists.
