West Central Boys Get First Win of Season

The West Central Trojan boys basketball team used a big third quarter to get their first win of the season on Monday, December 19th.  The Trojans defeated the Garretson Blue Dragons 61-36 at home.

The game was close through the first two quarters of play.  West Central led 14-8 after the first quarter, but that lead was cut to 24-20 by halftime.  The Trojan defense put the clamps on Garretson in the third quarter, holding them to just seven points as West Central built a 42-27 lead.  They were able to maintain that lead through the fourth quarter as both teams scored 19 points.

West Central shot 40% (23-57) from the field, 46% (12-26) on three-point attempts, and 3-7 of from the free-throw line.  The Blue Dragons were 33% (13-40) from the field, 44% (7-16) from three-point area, and 3-4 from the free-throw line.  The Trojans out-rebounded Garretson 39-21 in the game.

Erik Seten finished with 14 points, four assists, and two steals.  Crew Heier had 11 points and seven rebounds.  Owen Heath added eight points, five rebounds, and three steals.  Connor Eich had seven points and eight rebounds.

Over the past weekend, the Trojans played Western Christian, IA at the University of South Dakota on Saturday, December 17th.  West Central lost by a score of 55-39.
