Gamecocks Split Last Two Games

The Humboldt/Hartford Gamecocks finished 1-1 in their last two games.   They picked up a win over Baltic on Thursday, July 9th but fell to Madison on Sunday, July 12th.

Gamecocks 15, Baltic 4

Three straight innings of scoring to start the game helped the Gamecocks to their home win over the Baltic River Dawgs.  The Gamecocks scored two runs in each of the first three innings for a 6-0 lead.  Baltic cut the lead to 6-4 with a four-run top of the sixth, but the Gamecocks scored five in the bottom of the sixth and then ended the game on the 10-run rule with a three-run home run by Jonah Rechtenbaugh.

Hunter Den Boer finished with four hits, one a home run, and four RBIs.  Cam Quigley and Blake Svoboda both had three hits and one RBI each.   Rechtenbaugh had two hits, one a home run, and three RBIs.  Chad Morrison ended with two singles and an RBI.  Gunnar Alfson, Devon Garry, and Drew Talberg all had one hit each.  Landry Knight had two RBIs.  Braylon Bear pitched five innings and allowed no runs on four hits and a walk with 10 strikeouts to earn the win.

Madison 11, Gamecocks 5

The Broncos scored seven runs in the first two innings as they ended the Gamecocks three-game winnings streak on Sunday.   Madison scored three times in the bottom of the first inning.  The Gamecocks picked up a run in the top of the second, but Madison scored four more in the bottom of the second for a 7-1 lead.  Humboldt/Hartford picked up single runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to make the score 7-4.  Madison, however, scored two in the sixth and two in the seventh to push the lead to 11-4.  The Gamecocks added one more run in the top of the eighth.

Rechtenbaugh had three hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Alfson added two singles and three RBIs.  Broc Halldeman had a single and an RBI.  Svoboda and Den Boer each had a double.  Garry, Kyle Konechne, and JD Kirchner all had a single each.
