The undefeated and #1 ranked West Central Trojans kept the undefeated season going with a 71-46 win over the Dell Rapids Quarriers at home on Friday, March 6th in the Region 3A Tournament. The win advanced the Trojans to the SoDak 16 in Madison against Webster on Tuesday, March 10th.
The Trojans got out to a fast 13-4 lead with 3:55 to go in the first quarter. They ended the quarter with a 23-7 advantage. Both teams scored 13 points each in the second quarter, and West Central led 36-20 at halftime. The Trojans would outscore Dell Rapids 18-10 in the third quarter to extend their lead to 45-30 going into the fourth. Their lead would reach over 30 points early in the fourth quarter.
West Central shot 46% (29-63) overall from the field, 30% (9-30) on three-point shots, and a perfect 4-4 from the free-throw line. Dell Rapids was 46% (19-41) shooting overall, 38% (6-16) from three-point area, and 2-3 from the free-throw line.
Connor Mebius had 20 points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Will Kuhl ended with 17 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Hayden Heier added 13 points and three steals. Boche Knight had eight points, and Tanner Wagner had six points.
