Trojan Football Rolls Past Dakota Valley

The West Central Trojan football team improved to 5-2 with a big 47-21 home win against the Dakota Valley Panthers on Friday, October 10th.

Carter Gross and Tanner Wagner connected for a 32-yard touchdown pass with 9:47 to play in the opening quarter.  John Goehring made the extra point to give the Trojans an early 7-0 lead.  Dakota Valley answered back seconds later.  With 9:01 to play, the Panthers scored on a 68-yard touchdown pass.  The extra point was good to tie the game 7-7.  Hayden Whiting had a nine-yard touchdown run with 2:39 to play in the first.  Goehring added the extra point, and West Central led 14-7 after the first quarter.

Dakota Valley tied the game again, 14-14, with 6:51 to play in the first half.  They had a six-yard touchdown pass and extra point.  Gross and Wagner connected again with 1:34 to play in the second quarter for a touchdown.  Goehring made another extra point to put the Trojans ahead 21-14 going into halftime.

West Central had a big third quarter added 13 more points to their lead to make the score 34-14.  Gross would find Dominic Butts for an 86-yard touchdown pass with 6:22 remaining in the game to extend the lead to 40-14.  Gross added another touchdown pass, this time to Boche Knight, for six yards.  Goehring made the extra point giving West Central a 47-14 advantage.   Dakota Valley added one more score on a one-yard run with 2:32 left in the game for a final 47-21 score.
