The Humboldt/Hartford legion baseball team lost their Region 5B opening round game to Lake Norden/Badger 7-2 on Tuesday, July 23rd in Alexandria.
Runs came in bunches for the two teams late in the game. The two teams were scoreless through four innings of play. Lake Norden/Badger finally broke through with four runs in the top of the fifth inning. Humboldt/Hartford cut the lead in half, 4-2, with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Lake Norden/Badger, however, added three more runs in the top of the seventh to secure the win.
Landen Holewa finished with two singles. Keaton Vessells had a hit and an RBI. Will Nester and Cain Grocott each had one hit. Holewa pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed four earned runs on five hits and five walks with three strikeouts. Jericho Klein threw one inning and allowed three runs, one earned, on a hit and three walks. Maison Schult threw 1/3 of an inning.
