Chargers Pull Away from Trojans in Late Night Football Game

The West Central Trojans and Sioux Falls Christian Chargers endured a two-hour weather delay before they were able to start the football game on Friday, September 11th in Hartford.  The Chargers pulled away late in the fourth quarter for a 28-0 win.

The two teams were ready to get to action at normal time.  The national anthem had just completed, and the teams were meeting for the coin toss.  At that time lightning struck in the area, and kickoff didn’t happen until 9:00 p.m.

The Chargers scored late in the first quarter.  With 1:05 to go, they scored on a four-yard run.  The extra point was good for a 7-0 lead.  The score remained 7-0 at halftime.  Sioux Falls Christian struck again with 8:13 to go in the the third quarter.  This time the touchdown was scored on a 15-yard pass.  Another extra point pushe the lead to 14-0.

The score did not change again until just under four minutes to play in the game.  The Chargers scored on a one-yard run with 3:57 to go in the fourth quarter.  They added one more late score on a 22-yard run with 1:23 remaining on the clock.  Both extra points were made for the 28-0 final score.
