West Central Baseball Keeps Rolling, Blanks Howard

The West Central high school baseball team rolled to a big win over Howard, 16-0, on Wednesday, April 22nd.  West Central scored in every inning but one.

Beckett Everson scored on a wild pitch in the top of the first for an early 1-0 lead.  After a scoreless second inning, Everson and JT Steckley each had two-run doubles to extend the lead to 5-0.  West Central added six more runs in the top of the fourth highlighted by a three-run home run from Gunnar Alfson.  They would put five more runs on the board in the top of the fifth for a 16-0 score.  The game ended on the 10-run rule after the bottom of the fifth.

Alfson had three hits, one a home run, and four RBIs.  Everson had two hits, including a double, with three RBIs.  Ashton Gebhard had two singles and three RBIs.  Taten Van Overbeke also had two hits with an RBI.  Nick Lorang had a single and a double.  Steckley and Eli Koehn both added a double and two RBIs.

Van Overbeke pitched three innings and allowed a hit and a walk with five strikeouts.  Carson Johnson threw two innings and allowed a hit and struck out four batters.
