Sioux Falls Christian held off West Central in a 6-5 baseball win on Thursday, May 1st.
The Chargers put three runs on the board in the top of the first for an early 3-0 lead. West Central tied the game in the bottom of the third. Gunnar Alfson scored on a passed ball, Caden Alfson scored on a wild pitch, and Hayes Cain had an RBI single to make the score 3-3. Sioux Falls Christian got two runs in the top of the fourth and another in the fifth for a 6-3 lead. Cain drove home another run in the bottom of the fifth. C. Alfson added an RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 6-5. West Central, however, was retired in order in the seventh.
Cain finished with three hits and two RBIs. G. Alfson had two hits. CJ DenBoer and Beckett Everson both had a double each. Hayden Whiting had a single, and C. Alfson had an RBI. Keaton Vessells pitched two innings and allowed three earned runs on a hit and four walks with three strikeouts. Everson pitched five innings and allowed three earned runs on six hits and a walk with six strikeouts.
