The West Central high school baseball team allowed eight straight runs by Dell Rapids in an 8-2 road loss on Tuesday, April 22nd.
Dell Rapids scored a run in the bottom of the first and another in the second for a 2-0 lead. They would score two runs in the third inning and then had a four-run bottom of the fourth to extend the lead to 8-0. West Central scored both of their runs in the top of the sixth.
West Central was held to just three hits in the game. Caden Alfson had two of the three hits, including a double. Gunnar Alfson had the other hit. Ashton Gebhardt pitched three innings and allowed five earned runs on six hits and two walks with a strikeout. Hayden Whiting threw an inning and allowed three runs, one earned, on two walks. Taten Van Overbeke tossed two innings without allowing a hit and striking out one.
