West Central Boys Advance to SoDak 16 with Overtime Win over Madison

As the #1 seed in Region 3A, the West Central Trojan boys automatically advanced to the region’s SoDak 16 qualifying game on Saturday, March 8th.  The Trojans hosted the Madison Bulldogs, and West Central took the win 53-44 in overtime.

The Bulldogs stayed with West Central all game long.  The Trojans led 14-10 at the end of the first quarter, but Madison cut the lead down to one, 25-24, going into halftime.  West Central went on an 8-3 run for a 33-27 lead early in the third quarter.  The Bulldogs rallied back and cut the deficit to 39-37 going into the fourth quarter.

Madison started the fourth quarter on a 5-1 run to take a 42-40 lead.  West Central tied the game 42-42, and the score remained 42-42 for over a minute to end regulation and force overtime.  The Trojans scored the first four points in overtime for a 46-42 lead.  Madison would make the score 46-44, but West Central finished the game on a 7-0 run to take the win 53-44.

Connor Mebius had 28 points, four rebounds, and four steals.  Kolte Garry finished with seven points and seven rebounds.  Hayden Heier had six points and five rebounds, while Boche Knight had six points.  Will Kuhl had 10 rebounds in the game, and Luke Knight had four assists.
