Trojans Boys Basketball Team Headed to State A Tournament

The West Central Trojan boys basketball team punched their ticket to the State A Tournament after a big win over the Hanson Beavers in the SoDak 16.  The Trojans got a 91-47 victory in Madison on Tuesday, March 11th.

The Trojans started the game on a 6-0 run and never looked back.  West Central kept rolling through the first quarter and built a 24-5 lead.  Hanson was able to find their offense in the second quarter, scoring 22 points, but the Trojans didn’t slow down.  West Central outscored the Beavers 29-22 in the quarter for a 53-27 halftime lead.  The Trojans didn’t slow down in the second half.  They outscored Hanson 38-20 in the win.

West Central shot 64% (35-55) overall, 52% (13-25) on three-point shots, and 67% (8-12) from the free-throw line.  Hanson finished the game shooting 40% (16-40) overall, 42% (11-26) on three-point attempts, and 67% (4-6) from the free-throw line.

Five players scored in double figures.  Connor Mebius had 22 points, four assists, and two steals.  Will Kuhl finished with 17 points and six rebounds.  Kolte Garry ended with 13 points and three rebounds.  Carter Tetzlaff added 11 points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Hayden Heier also had 11 points with two rebounds.
