West Central Girls Fall Just Short Against #1 Chargers

The West Central Trojan girls went toe-to-toe with the #1 Sioux Falls Christian Chargers on Friday, January 3rd.  The Chargers pulled away late in the game for a 60-56 win.

The two teams went back and forth all game long.  The Chargers held a 17-15 lead at the end of the first quarter.  The Trojans took an 18-17 lead with a three-point shot at the 7:15 mark of the second quarter.  Sioux Falls Christian, however, took the lead later in the quarter and led 34-29 at halftime.

West Central went back in front 37-36 with 5:00 to play in the third quarter.  The teams went back and forth the remainder of the quarter.  The game was tied 44-44 going into the fourth quarter.  The Chargers went in front midway through the quarter and were able to hold off the Trojans to take the win.

Abbi Thornton had 12 points, two rebounds, and three steals.  Rayna Goehring also had 12 points.  Ellie Knight added 10 points and two rebounds.  Kacey Jaton had six points, four rebounds, and four steals.
