Extra Inning Home Run Gives Sioux Falls Christian Win over West Central

With a 2-2 score in the bottom of the eighth, the first two batters reached for Sioux Falls Christian.  The next batter belted a game-winning three-run home run to left field for a 5-2 victory over West Central on Tuesday, April 23rd.

West Central scored the first two runs of the game in the top of the third.  Gunnar Alfson and Hayes Cain both scored on a passed ball with two outs to give West Central a 2-0 lead.  Sioux Falls Christian tied the game in the bottom of the fourth with two runs.  West Central had runners on first and second with two outs in the sixth but was unable to score.  That was the only real scoring threat until the bottom of the eighth.

Brodie Herr finished with two singles.  Caden Alfson added a double.  Landen Holewa and G. Alfson both had a single.  Herr pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed two earned runs on four hits and four walks with four strikeouts.  Anthony Lanham pitched 3 2/3 innings and allowed three earned runs on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
