The West Central Trojan girls earned a Region 3A opening round win over the McCook Central/Montrose Fighting Cougars on Tuesday, February 20th. The Trojans took advantage of 19 offensive rebounds and 16 steals to lead them to a 53-23 win.
The game was tied 5-5 with 4:00 to play in the opening quarter. West Central finished the first quarter with an 11-7 lead. The Trojan defense held the Cougars to six points in the second quarter and led 22-13 at halftime. The offense got going in the third quarter, scoring 23 points, and West Central extended their lead to 45-21 going into the fourth quarter.
Molly Anderson finished with 15 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Jazelle Jarding added 11 points, four rebounds, three assists, and six steals. Kacey Jaton ended with 10 points and six rebounds. Alexa Borns had six points and seven rebounds. Ayla Kramer had five point. Emillee Stofferahn tallied eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
