The West Central Trojans suffered a loss at the Sacred Hoops Classic in Mitchell on Saturday, January 6th. The Trojans put together a fourth quarter rally, but the Pine Ridge Thorpes took the win 56-51.
The Trojans had a one-point lead at the end of the first quarter, 12-11. Pine Ridge flipped the script in the second quarter and had a one-point lead at halftime 21-20. The Thorpes would outscore the Trojans 17-6 in the third quarter to take a 38-26 lead going into the fourth. West Central started the fourth quarter on a 14-0 run for a 40-38 lead with 3:55 to play in the game. Pine Ridge responded with a 9-2 run to go ahead 47-42 with 2:00 to go. The Thorpes were able to make their free throws down the stretch to hold for the win.
Will Kuhl had 14 points and six rebounds. Crew Heier finished with 12 points and four rebounds. Jake Kuhl had seven points and 11 rebounds. Carter Tetzlaff also had seven points. Connor Mebius added five points, four rebounds, and two assists.
