The West Central high school club baseball team earned a 10-0 shutout win over the Hanson/Bridgewater-Emery (HBE) Bulldogs in six innings on Wednesday, May 17th.
Caden Alfson scored on a steal of home in the bottom of the first to put West Central on the board 1-0. Aandrew Zimmer scored on an error, and Jesse Jost scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the second to extend the lead to 3-0. Alfson brought home two more runs with a double in the bottom of the fourth. Keaton Vessells added an RBI sacrifice fly for a 6-0 lead. Jost and Deuce Sherard both had an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth. Zimmer was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth. The tenth run was scored by Owen Heath on an error.
Alfson had a double and two RBIs. Sherard, Vessells, Zimmer, and Jost all had a hit and RBI in the game. Brodie Herr added a double. Brayden Odegaard pitched six innings allowing just three hits and two walks with six strikeouts.
