Winning Streak Continues for West Central Baseball

The winning streak for West Central baseball has now reached five games after a 3-1 road win against Mt Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney (MVPCS) Padres on Wednesday, May 10th.  The win was also their third in straight days.

Early runs proved to be enough for West Central in this game.  Brodie Herr had an RBI sacrifice out in the top of the first inning for an early 1-0 lead.  Caden Alfson added an RBI single in the top of the second.  The score remained 2-0 until the bottom of the fifth.  The Padres got one run to cut the lead to 2-1.  West Central got an insurance run in the top of the sixth after an RBI single by Brayden Odegaard.

Oddegaard finished with two hits and an RBI.  Alfson had a single and an RBI.  Deuce Sherard, Brody Jacobson, and Jesse Jost each had one hit in the game.  Herr had the other RBI.  Odegaard pitched 4 1/3 innings allowing one earned run on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts.  Herr pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed just one hit while striking out four.
