West Central Girls Take Win over Tea

The West Central Trojans (6-7) earned a Dak-12 Conference win over the Tea Area Titans at home on Thursday, February 2nd.  The Trojans won by a score of 65-57.

Tea took a five-point lead, their largest of the game, with 5:49 to play in the first quarter.  The Trojans rallied and ended the first quarter with a 22-20 lead.  West Central extended their lead to 10 points with 1:25 left in the first half, but the Titans cut the lead to 37-32 by halftime.  Tea Area was within three points, 49-46, going into the fourth quarter, but the Trojans outscored Tea 16-11 in the final quarter for the win.

West Central shot 38% (20-53) for the game, 34% (9-26) from three-point area, and a perfect 16-16 from the free-throw line.  The Titans finished the game shooting 44% (20-45) overall, 50% (8-16) on three-point attempts, and 9-9 from the free-throw line.

Molli Thornton had 21 points and two rebounds.  Tessa VanOverbeke added 16 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Alexa Borns finished with 10 points and four rebounds.  Jazelle Jarding ended with seven points, three rebounds, and two steals.  Molly Anderson also had seven points.
