Trojan Girls Rally in Win over Tri-Valley

The West Central Trojans (5-7) put together a couple of big runs in the second half to get a come-from-behind win over the Tri-Valley Mustangs, 53-46, at home on Tuesday, January 31st.

Tri-Valley built a five-point lead by the end of the first quarter, 18-13.  They maintained that lead in the second quarter and led 30-25 at halftime.  The Mustangs went on a surge to start the second half and extended their lead to 38-27 with 5:45 to play in the quarter.  That’s when West Central made their first run.  The Trojans went on an 11-0 run to tie the game 38-38.  The third quarter ended in a 40-40 tie.  After the game was tied 44-44 early in the fourth quarter, the Trojans finished the game on their second big run, 9-2, to take the win.

West Central shot 34% (21-62) from the field overall, 18% (5-28) from three-point area, and 6-12 from the free-throw line.  Tri-Valley shot 43% (17-40) from the field, 54% (7-13) on three-point attempts, and 5-11 from the free-throw line.  The Trojan defense forced 21 turnovers in the game.

Molli Thornton had 15 points and two rebounds.  Cambell Fischer finished with 14 points, eight rebounds, and three steals.  Molly Anderson added nine points and three steals.  Jazelle Jarding ended with eight points, six rebounds, three assists, and five steals.  Tesssa VanOverbeke had seven points, two assists, and two steals.
