Trojan Girls Go Cold in Vermillion

Playing on back-to-back nights, the West Central Trojans offense went cold in Vermillion on Friday, December 30th.  The Trojans fell to the Tanagers 43-32 while shooing just 18% overall in the game.

West Central scored just three points in the first quarter and trailed 7-3.  The Trojans were able to pull within a point, 17-16, by halftime but struggled offensively in the first half.  They shot just 13% overall and 15% on three-point attempts.  West Central was 8-11 from the free-throw line in the first half to keep them in the game.

The second half was continued to be an offensive struggle.  Vermillion outscored West Central 26-16 in the final two quarters and led 31-25 heading into the fourth quarter.  West Central finished 18% (8-45) from the field overall, 15% (4-26) from three-point area, and 67% (12-18) from the free-throw line.  Vermillion shot 27% (14-51) in the game, 17% (4-24) from three-point area, and 55% (11-20) from the free-throw line.

Molli Thornton had 10 points and two steals to lead the Trojans.  Molly Anderson finished with five points and three rebounds.  Jazelle Jarding, Tessa VanOverbeke and Aubree Miller all had four points each.  Cambell Fischer added seven rebounds and four assists.  Alexa Borns had six rebounds.
