Vermillion Squeaks Past Mustangs

The Vermillion Tanagers squeaked out a one-point win, 15-14, over the Tri-Valley Mustangs on Friday, October 11th.

The defenses were the stars of the game.  Neither team was able to score in the opening quarter.  Brody Dybvig scored in the second quarter on a 13-yard run.  Brechen Frederick added the two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead.  Vermillion was able to answer later in the quarter.  They scored on a 27-yard touchdown pass and also made the two-point conversion to tie the score 8-8.  The score remained 8-8 at halftime.

Dybvig found the end zone again in the third quarter.  He scored on a five-yard run.  This time the conversion attempt was no good, but Tri-Valley led 14-8.  Vermillion tied the game later in the third quarter on a two-yard run.  Their extra point attempt was good giving the Tanagers a 15-14 lead.

Tri-Valley had an opportunity to take the lead midway through the fourth quarter.  They were driving deep in Vermillion territory, but an interception was thrown at the Tanager five-yard line which kept Vermillion in front 15-14.
