Tri-Valley Girls Win DSU Shootout Game over Kadoka

The Tri-Valley Mustang girls took the lead in the first quarter and rode that to a 42-33 win over the Kadoka Area Cougars at the DSU Shootout in Madison on Saturday, January 18th.

After a 6-6 tie in the opening quarter, the Mustangs finished the quarter on a 5-0 run for an 11-6 lead.  That run kept the Mustangs in front the rest of the game.  They would old a 20-13 lead at halftime.  Tri-Valley went on a 12-4 run for most of the third quarter for a game-high 15 point lead, 32-17.  The third quarter ended with the Mustangs leading 32-19.

Tri-Valley shot 31% (13-42) overall in the game, 29% (7-24) on three-point shots, and 56% (9-16) from the free-throw line.  Kadoka Area shot 28% (12-43) overall, just 3-21 on three-point attempts, and 6-12 form the free-throw line.

Mattie Huwe, the game’s MVP, finished with 17 points, two rebounds, two assists, and five steals.  Hailey Sorenson had eight points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Kadence Davey added five points and three rebounds.  Izzy Davey and Emry Jones both had four points each.
